WordPress IconYour blog should be the central Hub of your Internet Marketing Business.  Think of your blog as your headquarters, or your home-base where you pull everything together into one neat little package.

With that being the case, you want your blog to be hassle free and easily manageable, visible and easy to find, and you want your readers to be able to share your content with their friends, and the world at large!

WordPress Plugins are essential to any blog; here is my recommended list of 10 essential traffic getting and blog management plugins.

Like it or not, as your blog grows in popularity, so will the spam comments your blog attracts.  The Askimet plugin protects your blog from unwanted spam comments.

All-In-One-SEO Pack

A staple on all my blogs, the All-In-One-SEO Pack helps with your tags and metatags on a post-by-post basis, allowing you to make your website, and every post unique.

This is a great tool to assist in your Search engine Optimization (SEO) efforts, it’s very easy to configure and use.

Getting your blog posts and articles distributed across the Internet should be one of your goals when using a blog to help build your Internet Marketing Business, and the Sociable plugin helps do just that by allowing readers to share your content on popular social networks such as Digg, Technorati, and Twitter.

The more times your content is shared by your readers the more potential traffic and opportunity to get free backlinks you have.

Facebook Like Button

Facebook has, according to some sources, overtaken Google for traffic so you would be mad not to have a presence there.  The Facebook Like Button plugin allows you to include a like button for your Fan Pages on your blog directly.

SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam helps catch any spam that gets through Askimet by adding CAPTCHA images to comments, registration and login forms.  A CAPTCHA image displays and the user has to enter the words and numbers shown before the form will submit.

Database Backup

Unless you relish the thought of losing your entire blog and re-doing all of the hard work you put into it, you need a method of backing it up.  With this plugin you can backup and send to email, store on your server, or download direct to your computer.  Includes options for one time, and scheduled regular backups too.

Ping Optimizer

Every time you publish a new post you want, and need, to let everyone know – pinging is one way to promote your new posts by letting blog servers and search engines that your site has new content.  This plugin will help manage when you ping, and how often, to help optimize your blogs exposure.

Google Analyticator

Google Analyticator lets you integrate and view Google Analytics data directly on your blog – understanding your traffic sources, keyword effectiveness, and such will help with future optimization efforts.

Google Sitemap Generator

Search engines love sitemaps; sitemaps make it very easy for the search engine bots and spiders to crawl a website and index them.

A good sitemap helps your SEO efforts and gives a boost to your search engine rankings, and in many cases websites with a sitemap will get preference in the rankings over sites which do not.

WP EzineArticles

I do a lot of article marketing to promote my blog and Internet Marketing Business in general, and the first article directory I submit my articles to is EzineArticles.

The WP EzineArticles plugin makes it extremely easy to post an article directly from my blog to the article directory and ensures I meet all of the basic submission guidelines.
